Comfort Dentistry

Nitrous Oxide

The Academy of General Dentistry claims that 40 million Americans associate a visit to the dentist with anxiety and fear. However there is truly no need to be afraid of your dental visit, advances over the last couple of decades have made dental treatment minimally invasive, very conservative, quick and much more comfortable for the patient, and if you are still nervous there is other options to make you even more comfortable such as nitrous oxide and oral sedation.

Nitrous Oxide-N2O (Laughing Gas)

Nitrous Oxide has been used in dental procedures for decades, it helps make your procedure much more comfortable by encouraging you to relax. After your dental procedure is completed the effect of nitrous oxide is gradually removed and it is safe to resume your daily activities after your appointment.

Nitrous oxide is ideal to manage moderate to severe anxiety. On your appointment date, you are fitted with an on-demand valve nose inhaler, and it releases that gas as you inhale through your nose, the gas is an exact mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide, as you inhale you will start to feel the effects immediately. After your procedure is complete, nitrous oxide is shut off and you are allowed to breathe oxygen for a few minutes which simply makes you feel normal again within minutes.

We have a great team that is dedicated to making you feel more comfortable with your dental procedure. Our doctors will listen to your concerns and determine the most appropriate way to help you get through your dental procedure while staying relaxed.

Stress-free dental treatment is what we strive for at An Amazing Smile Dentistry, whether you need a single filling done or a whole smile makeover, our team of experts will guide you to optimal health through a stress-free comfortable process.

Oral Sedation

One of the options to manage severe anxiety is Oral sedation. Oral meaning you are to take a pill by mouth, usually, Halcion which is in the same drug family as Valium. Halcion is usually taken half an hour prior to your appointment. The effect of oral sedation will make you feel more relaxed and quite often drowsy, but you will still be awake. When a higher dosage is given sometimes the patient will fall asleep in the chair and that is fine, once the procedure is complete you will be woken up with a gentle hand touch.

IV Sedation

IV sedation is a game changer in dentistry for the dentist and the patient.  Anxious patients and patients with extensive work could benefit from this service. The IV sedation will relax them while the dentist performs all the dental work needed in one visit.

Isolite and Dryshield

Isolite and dryshield are systems that are attached to high suction HVE and used in our restorative procedures.  They have a bite block and they removed all saliva and water from the hand pieces.  No water will go back in the mouth and the area where the dentist is working on stays dry.  With Covid-19 this devise help decrease the aerosol and increase the comfort and safety of the patient.
